Staff Testimonials
My journey has been amazing, I started as an Apprentice and I am a Shop Floor Manager now. I have enjoyed working out on site too at some of our largest and most interesting jobs including automotive projects, aerospace jobs and bridge fabrication installations.
The thing I enjoy the most is the variety of projects we get coming in, there’s always something different and I’m learning something new every day.
One of the main benefits of working at WEC Group is that there is plenty of overtime if you want it and good bonuses. I certainly would recommend WEC Group to anyone looking to progress their career in engineering.
I enjoy the variety of work and the shop floor environment, and the annual profit share helps too. I started an apprenticeship at 26, and being an older apprentice meant I was able to develop new skills whilst bringing my own work ethic. I’ve worked in different divisions throughout WEC, each enhancing my knowledge of large and small jobs. It’s a good environment and everybody has the same work ethic.
I enjoy the overtime, variety of jobs and site work. WEC has helped me gain multiple codings and get qualified to use machinery, and there are opportunities to work on larger and various jobs. I’ve enjoyed working on Pooley Bridge, Rolls Royce exhaust silencers and nuclear work. Since joining WEC I’ve gained codings in various welding processes and materials, as well as general welding and fabrication skills.
There are lots of opportunities to learn new skills on a variety of different jobs, and overtime is always available if you want it. I started from an apprenticeship straight out of high school and I have learnt everything I know here. I’ve enjoyed working on Pooley Bridge, Rolls Royce, stainless vessels and nuclear projects. All the lads are very funny and always willing to help each other.
"I first started WEC Group in 2018 as an IT apprentice, I did 2 years as an IT apprentice learning the basics of the job and continuously improving my knowledge. After 2 years I became an IT Engineer where I have now become a highly valued member of the IT team, on a daily basis my main job is to provide 1st line and 2nd line support to our users, monitor servers and build computers. However, recently I have extended my knowledge by doing more of the administration side which includes getting quotes from suppliers and ordering and monitoring stock. I have worked here 8 years and I am grateful for the opportunity provided by WEC to have a career path where I am progressing further and further. The things I like about working here are the fact no day is the same, every day presents new tasks/challenges. The yearly profit share bonus is also a brilliant thing, where hard work is rewarded."
I enjoy working on and with cutting-edge equipment, and taking pride in my work which may be used in aircraft, defence systems and day-to-day life. The opportunities working for WEC give me are endless, with the opportunity to learn and earn. The team I work with are dedicated and persevere to get the best results, and working with experienced engineers with a broad range of knowledge enables you to collaborate and work as a team to solve problems.

I enjoy the environment and the fact that everyone I am around is very knowledgeable, which helps boost my confidence by always having support and helping me to improve each day. Everything is very organised and well documented, and the incentive for attendance is rewarding. My favourite part of my role is the continuous learning every day, as not every job is the same, which allows me to use my brain and do some problem solving.
“I began my career at WEC Group as they offer great career opportunities and a good apprenticeship scheme. I transferred to the sales team after working as a Laser Operator, developing my skills as a Trainee Sales Estimator and now I have moved up to a Sales Engineer. I’ll be celebrating my 10 year anniversary with WEC Group next month.
Since I started my role as a Sales Engineer, I have learned how orders are fulfilled from quote stage all the way to delivery of the finished product. It really gives me an appreciation as to how much work goes on behind the scenes now that I work closely with customers, production and everyone else in-between. I am really grateful for the opportunity provided by WEC that I was able to transition from Apprentice to where I am now.”
I enjoy the quality and selection of various jobs we get to make. I have just finished my Level 3 Plate Welder apprenticeship and am now a fully skilled welding engineer. I have been mentored along the way, allowing me to enhance my skills. I’ve enjoyed working on AI tanks, site work, Airbuses, nuclear stainless steel work, and fabricating and welding frames. The team are a good set of lads and a great laugh.
