As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director to lead Sherburn Metalwork, based in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Yorkshire.

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious engineering leader to take significant ownership of a successful operation, lead an experienced team and play a key role in delivering the next stage of the business’s growth.

Role:

You will lead a skilled workforce, oversee operational and financial performance, manage budgets and develop strategies that deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

The role will combine commercial leadership, operational management and customer development, with the autonomy to make decisions and drive improvements across the business.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading and developing a skilled engineering workforce.
• Managing the day-to-day operational performance of the business.
• Taking ownership of budgets, financial performance and P&L.
• Identifying and delivering opportunities for profitable growth.
• Developing and maintaining strong, long-term customer relationships.
• Ensuring exceptional levels of customer service and operational performance.
• Driving continuous improvement across the business.
• Providing strong leadership and direction to ensure the business achieves its strategic objectives.
• Working collaboratively with the wider WEC Group to maximise opportunities and strengthen the company’s competitive position.

Experience & Knowledge required:

• Proven senior management experience within an engineering environment.
• A strong track record of growing organisations and delivering profitable results.
• Excellent commercial and financial acumen, including a strong understanding of P&L accounts.
• The ability to make commercially sound decisions with a clear focus on profitability.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire teams.
• Excellent customer relationship and business development skills.
• The confidence and ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external customers.
• A collaborative and engaging leadership style.
• A proactive, energetic and hands-on approach to management.
